In today’s society, on-campus full-time study is mainstream but not the only option. Many of us, especially Gen Z and younger millennials, are engaged in different side hustles, online businesses, and/or a full-time or part-time job. Therefore, we may not be able to spend one or two full years relocating to university campuses for studies.

There are still many benefits to experiencing on-campus studies and college life. Therefore, the majority of today’s generation still prefers to study on campus for their bachelor’s degrees. However, upon graduation, many may want to enter the job market for financial gains and professional experience, while also seeking to further enhance their academic profile and continue to upskill and reskill.

In this context, studying for an online master’s degree, either in full-time or part-time format, is an ideal option. Today, let’s discuss some prestigious, world-class graduate schools that offer online master’s programmes in the field of education (I will cover other academic fields in the coming weeks, months, and hopefully years).

When it comes to prestige or elitism in education, attending Ivy League schools remains idealised. Normally, Ivy League schools offer multiple online master’s programmes. However, there are exceptions like Princeton University, which, as of writing this blog post, still does not offer any online master’s degree programmes (although they have multiple online non-degree courses) or Columbia University, which offers a relatively larger number of online master’s degree programmes.

In the field of education, the top Graduate Schools of Education from the US, which offer online master’s programmes, are Ivy League schools such as Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University.

The Harvard Graduate School of Education has offered the Online Master’s in Education programme since the outbreak of the pandemic. While prospective students can study the master’s in education programme online, Harvard Graduate School of Education also has a wide range of master’s programmes for on-campus studies. Therefore, depending on whether you want to experience on-site Harvard life or prefer to work full-time while studying part-time online, Harvard Graduate School of Education‘s list of master’s programmes can satisfy your educational needs.

  1. Online Master’s in Education (Online) Ed.M.

The Penn Graduate School of Education is another world-class graduate school of education from the US. The Penn Graduate School of Education at UPenn offers:

  1. Global Higher Education Management M.S.Ed. (Online)
  2. Learning Analytics and Artificial Intelligence M.S.Ed. (Online)
  3. Urban Education (Online) M.S.Ed.

These three online master’s programmes offered by the Penn Graduate School of Education run between one and two years, depending on whether you study full-time or part-time. Global Higher Education Management M.S.Ed. (Online) begins in the summer term; Learning Analytics and Artificial Intelligence M.S.Ed. (Online) can begin in summer, autumn, or spring term; and Urban Education (Online) M.S.Ed. begins in the autumn term.

At Columbia University, its Graduate School of Education—also the first and largest graduate school of education in the US—is called Teachers College. Teachers College at Columbia University offers a wide range of academic or professional degrees in online master’s studies. These online master’s degrees are listed below:

  1. Adult Learning and Leadership (Online) M.A.
  2. Computing in Education – Distance Learning M.A.
  3. Psychological Counselling: School Counsellor (Online) Ed.M.
  4. Data, Learning, and Society (Online) M.S.
  5. Developmental Disabilities (Online) M.A.
  6. Teaching of English (Online) M.A.
  7. Special Education (Online) M.A.
  8. Psychological Counselling: School Counsellor (Online) Ed.M.

These online master’s degree programmes in education offered by world-class Ivy League schools allow you to fulfil your Ivy League dreams and become more knowledgeable and skilled professionals in education-related industries.

There are also other world-class universities offering online master’s degree programmes in education beyond the Ivy League circle. I will talk about them in another blog post in the future.

So, plan your next studies in education at Ivy League schools if you are interested.
